This Thursday, I fly out to Melbourne for 2 days and then off to New Zealand for just over 2 weeks. Even though I was only in NZ in July, I miss all my friends like crazy. Past few months have been crazy busy with starting a new job & moving out so I’m looking forward to 2 weeks in the sun, doing nothing but relaxing and hanging out with my friends.
Now, to finish writing all my christmas cards and to start packing! I’ve never been good at getting things ready on time. Think that may be a new years resolution…
Lately, I’ve been coming home so exhausted. It’s officially summer here in Perth but the weather is currently telling us otherwise….rain & thunderstorms.
I went to my parents new house last night, the one night it was clear and my father had just finished building the outdoor alfesco area. We sat outside and looked out onto the park, it was so peaceful. There’s still grass to be put into their new outdoor so I’ll post a picture once it’s all done.
For now, here’s some of my favourite relaxing outdoor settings:
I’m a massive fan of this one!
I love a good indoor/outdoor flow
And also, a massive fan of timber decking!

Lately, I’ve been finding myself looking on real estate websites, dreaming about living near the coast. This one house in particular (the one above), I am absolutely in love with. It’s overlooking the swan river, the main river in Perth, it’s 5 minutes walk from my favourite beach, Port Beach & it’s just all round amazing.
Here’s two other photos of it:

Now…..where did I put that $5 million dollars I had?
January 2011- Budapest
December 2011- Perth. L to R: Lo, C, A & Eddie
Last night, we celebrated Lo’s 21st birthday. You see, we all met in Prague at the beginning of the year and ended up meeting again in Vienna (C, Lo & I), Budapest (all of us + others) and Barcelona (Eddie & I). When you’re traveling, especially alone, you really open up to people. We probably spent two weeks max together whilst away, but spending all day, everyday with people, you kind of fast forward the friendship.
I feel like I’ve known these girls forever & I’m closer to them than some of the people I’ve known for 5 years. I’ve seen them first thing in the morning, in all sorts of different moods and of course, seen them in their absolute craziest moods- and accept every part of their personalities.
Lo, C & I all live in Perth so we catch up every now & then but Eddie lives in Melbourne so we don’t get to see her so much. That’s why last night was so special, we were all reunited & it was like our European adventure all over again.
Now, we’re all off to the beach to nurse our hangovers….quite the opposite to the last time we all partied together in the snow!
On the 1st of December 2010, I was walking the streets of London with L and the place resembled something very close to the image above. Christmas lights were up, the snow had just flown and the place felt so magical.
Everyone thought I was crazy to go traveling in the winter time especially because Perth was heating up to 30 degrees most days but as soon as I touched down in London, I felt at home.
Maybe it’s the Russian in me but that was my first white christmas in 15 years. I bought a christmas sweater for roughly 15 pounds and then L & I got a christmas tree and decorations. We had two other Australian girls join us as orphans in London & it was one of the best christmas’s ever.
Now fast forward one year and every part of my body wishes I was back there. Whenever I hear Tina mention christmas preparation in Sweden, all of me gets a little sadder each time.
I think I belong in the Northern hemisphere. Now I just need to get through the next 3 years of uni & then I can move there. Until then, it will just have to be holidays!
