Birthday drinks

Last night, I celebrated my birthday with some friends. I hired out a room called the ‘Bali Room’ at one of my favourite pubs, The Windsor Hotel which is only 5 minutes from my house. We had a bit sectioned off just for us- I felt pretty special! Here’s some snaps from last night:

The venue

The Bali Room- I pretty much got it just for the fire place….

The other half of the room. The white doors and the behind the couch is where it stops.

The food- this was the dips and bits platter. Turkish bread was amazing!

The party platter. I couldn’t get enough of the party pies!

Then there’s me! Makeup- Napoleon applied by Napoleon.

Happy 21st to me!

The yummy cake my mum made, it’s a Russian recipe

Inside the cake….yum!!

The red roses my parents spoilt me with

L to R: The bouquet I got from work & the bouquet my friend D sent to my work- such a surprise!

It was my 21st birthday yesterday. I really wasn’t expecting anything but by the end of the day, I couldn’t believe how many amazing people I have in my life. My best friend S called me on two occasions, I got a few more phone calls, 2 packages, 1 flower delivery to work, one visit & countless messages.

I was meant to be studying all day because I had so much uni work to catch up on but seriously? What was I thinking, studying was the last thing I wanted to do! I had a family dinner that night & then went to uni for an hour to do a economics test….so lame.

I had one more exam today & then last one tomorrow and THEN I’ll celebrate! I’ve booked out a room at my favourite pub tomorrow night where I’ve asked a number of friends to come down & celebrate with me. I’m getting my hair done by D & makeup done by Napoleon…just because I feel like spoiling myself a little more.

I can’t wait!

Celebrating a day earlier

I won’t be at work tomorrow on my birthday….not because it’s my birthday but because I have an exam tomorrow night & I’ve had no time to do uni work lately. Uni does not care about celebrations!

So instead of celebrating my birthday, ON my birthday, we celebrated a day earlier. I bought in my favourite cake, black forest cake and I went out to lunch with my boss & the office manager to a nearby pub with views of the river which was superb on a day like today where there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.

I came back to the office to a pretty bouquet of flowers and a bottle of sparkling wine with a personalised card- so spoilt!

I am so lucky to work in such an awesome office! Count myself VERY lucky everyday.

Last day being twenty

There’s two hours to go until I’m officially 21 years old so I thought I’d use this time to reflect on the past year. The past 12 months have been the most action packed months to date.

I finally obtained my high school certificate…3 years later, I met my best friend S in Sydney for a week where we visited every beach in New South Wales, I went to Bali and experienced a whole new culture which opened my eyes so much more, I traveled Europe alone and met amazing people in every city I visited, my other best friend K came to Perth & we went on a massive roadtrip, I started uni full time as well as somehow managed to work full time (no idea how I did it!), my best friend S came and stayed with me in Perth for a few days where we did nothing but lay on the beach everyday (in Autumn!), I survived my first semester at uni, started a new job in the property industry, doing exactly what I wanted- property valuation, managed to get time off to go back to New Zealand for a week for my best friend’s 21st birthday and then somehow managed a week away for work when uni was at its busiest.

And that’s not even all of it! But looking back on the past 12 months, I’m seriously wondering- when did I have time to breathe?

Don’t worry, I stopped to smell the flowers on a constant basis. I went for walks in the park & the beach on a weekly basis. I saw the country side as much as I could, and I retreated into my little cocoon to think about life every so often. I did a lot of thinking, I came to a lot of conclusions and I made a lot of decisions.

Now what’s in store for the next 12 months? Stay tuned.

Retail therapy

I was feeling really crappy this morning so I thought I’d do a quick shop before I get stuck into the books. These days, I struggle to find anything I like in the stores. When I walked into Portmans, I was so so happy when I found the above A line skirt- I’ve been looking for the perfect one for MONTHS.

The top, I’m thinking of wearing with a nice blazer and jeans at night. Who knows, it could even be worn during the day if I dress it down. On my way to the car, I stopped by a bookshop & found Lauren Conrad’s book, ‘Style’. I’m slowly cleaning up my wardrobe at the moment and making a list of all the classic pieces I need. Spring is here next month, time to organise a swap meet with friends!

Friendship bracelet

When I got home from the airport last night, I had an envelope waiting for me on my bed. The wonderful Tina sent me a card wishing me happy birthday for next week & found this friendship bracelet which I am in love with!

I have five bracelets on my wrists now (both wrists) and each one is from a different city & holds a special memory. Thank you Tina, I love it!

Week of sunshine

Karratha was beautiful! Everyone I’ve spoken to instantly dismisses the place for it’s mining culture aka too many guys with too much money (also known as ‘cashed up bogans’) but you know what? There’s more of them on one street in Perth than the whole town.

I really liked the town. It’s a small community, everyone was really friendly and it’s definitely a place I could live in, who knew?

Here are some pictures I got:

Dampier, located 30 minutes away from Karratha

Out in Dampier on the first night

Look over Karratha from a nearby hill

Point Samson, 45 minutes drive away from Karratha

Drinking at the Point Samson pub where the girl to guy ratio was 1:6 and I was the most overdressed by far

The hotel we stayed at….sure doesn’t look like we’re in the middle of nowhere!

Breakfast on the last day where I ate so much I felt sick for 3 and a half hours after….not good!

Now I’m back in Perth and freezing!! The trip was good while it lasted. Hopefully there will be another one soon!
